Polyhedral Dreaming by Todd Henson

Polyhedral Dreaming

Be careful of falling asleep in school while studying for a geometry test.

Another in my Inverted Worlds series of abstract images. This image began as an accident. I happened to press the shutter button on my camera while it was hanging by my side and moving. Who knows what it was pointing at when this occurred, but what resulted was a fascinating series of lines and patterns. I took this into Photoshop and rotated and inverted it multiple times, then boosted the saturation to bring out whatever colors were there, though I didn’t shift the colors and was surprised by the shades of purple, blue and green. The end result is Polyhedral Dreaming.

Obscura by Todd Henson

Obscura is an Inverted Worlds image born of inverting a photograph on itself in various ways and seeing what happens. For these images I don’t feel any need to retain any semblance of reality, though in some of them I do. This one is more abstract than many of the others I’ve done, beginning as clouds in the sky and turning into whatever it is this has turned into.

Hunting Blind Sunrise on the Potomac River by Todd Henson

Hunting Blind Sunrise on the Potomac River #1

Back on New Year’s Day my father and I visited Widewater State Park in Virginia for an overcast and blue morning. When we went over to the Potomac River side of the park we were fascinated by this streak of warm light reflected from near the horizon as it created what appeared to be a finger or pointer directly at a hunting blind in the river. I hiked around trying for other perspectives and found one other I liked. They’re both very similar and yet the surface of the water and that warm pointer have a slightly different look.
