The Glow From Below
A recent trip to a botanical garden provided an opportunity to photograph koi just below the surface of a small lake. Previously, I’d created an image in black & white of a grouping of koi and turtles, but this time I focused on individual koi and kept the color. Each image has a slightly different look largely based on how the sun reflected off the surface of the water, along with the movement of the fish.

It’s funny, each time we visit this location I never really think ahead about photographing the koi, and yet when I get home I find that ends up being one of my favorite parts of the trip.
