Cabbage White on Thistle by Todd Henson

A cabbage white butterfly with a lovely streak of yellow on its wing.

Today we take a look at some views of a cabbage white butterfly on thistle. The subject makes for a fairly soft palette of colors with little bits of bolder color thrown in.

Facing the camera at an angle the cabbage white hangs on to the thistle.

I imagine the cabbage white attempting to hunker down and hide in the thistle, though it’s really just an illusion of perspective.

Look at that long tongue of the cabbage white as it feeds on thistle nectar.

I hope you enjoyed this look at the delicate nature of the cabbage white.

Six Views of Mexican Primrose by Todd Henson

One of many in a small field of Mexican primrose

Home gardens can be a great place to find flowers to photograph. My folks have some Mexican primrose in their front yard and I spent a little time one afternoon exploring them, trying to find different ways of showcasing this beautiful flower.

I hope you enjoy this selection of six views of Mexican primrose.

Spring Redbud by Todd Henson

Redbud reds

One of the many brief periods I look forward to each spring is the blooming of the redbud trees. When seen amongst other trees they can provide such a beautiful addition of bright color, especially when set off against the younger, lighter greens of new growth.

Included in the photos today is an example of redbud blooming along an old road, now serving as a trail through the forest, as well as a few shots showing a little more detail of these beautiful clusters of flowers. I hope you enjoy this colorful look at spring.
