Field Notes: BLACK SWALLOWTAIL
Black Swallowtail butterfly
The Black Swallowtail is a largely black butterfly. The male has a couple bands of yellow around the back edges of its wings and small amounts of blue and red near the tail end. The female has white bands instead of yellow and has more blue at the tail end.
