Field NotesEASTERN CHIPMUNK

Eastern Chipmunk midair, jumping from rock. Found in nature/garden park.

As small as the Eastern Chipmunk is, it is apparently the largest of the Chipmunks in North America. It tends to live in forests, or at least in trees, as it can sometimes be found in city parks or backyards. It's usually seen scurrying around on the ground, sometimes with it's cheeks packed full of berries or other food, as can be seen in some of these photos. It is often seen with its tail pointing upward.
